Summer Ag Institutes for Teachers
KCFB’s Summer Ag Institute for teachers is June 11-15.  The Kane County agricultural tour gets great reviews and fills up fast. It offers 3 graduate credit hours in cooperation with Aurora University or CPDU's. It helps pre-K to 12th grade teachers integrate instruction about the food and fiber industry. Register for workshop #447-12 at www.kaneroe.org. Past SAI participants are eligible for SAI Part II (workshop #400-13) to be held Aug. 6-9.
KCFB Foundation Awards Scholarships
Mitch Dienst of Maple Park is one of 21 area students recently awarded a college scholarship by the Kane County Farm Bureau Foundation for the 2012-13 school year. This year, the Foundation will award over $25,000 in tuition assistance to future Ag industry professionals.  Click here to learn more about Farm Bureau scholarships and internships and see a list of this year's recipients.
Corn sculpture is a hit at Touch-A-Tractor
Hundreds enjoyed Touch-A-Tractor – a FREE public event on the front lawn of the Kane County Farm Bureau. This year’s event featured a 1913 Port Huron Steam Engine, live chainsaw carving to create a wood carving of an 8 foot tall ear of corn on the front lawn, and the announcement of the Centennial Grove tribute program. Click here for more photos and watch the Kane County Farmer for more details.
First trees planted in Centennial Grove
The first trees have been purchased by KCFB members to start the Centennial Grove, a tribute program on the Farm Bureau grounds.  In all, 13 trees were planted in April, four of which are still available for tributes to family, farms, or events. More trees will be ordered as requests are received. Click here to download a brochure with full details on this unique opportunity to make a public tribute that will last for generations.
